Careers

Job requirements and opportunities at Bay Audiology New Zealand

Audiology is a specialised, high demand area within the local community. With greater awareness and an emphasis on the early detection of hearing disorders, the job market within hearing care services is buoyant.

Educational requirements

  1. All audiologists in New Zealand are required to have attained their Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC), in order to be registered with the New Zealand Audiological Society.

    The CCC process:
    • NZ University Graduates: Studying audiology in New Zealand requires two years of postgraduate study and a further year of supervised clinical practicum. This supervision generally occurs while an audiological provider employs the graduate.
    • Overseas: If you haven’t studied in New Zealand, the NZAS recognises several country's qualifications as equivalent to the New Zealand CCC. To view the full process, please click here.
  2. A Masters of Audiology (M.Aud). Two New Zealand universities currently offer the Master of Audiology programme; the University of Auckland or the University of Canterbury.

Bay Audiology attracts top talent when it comes to New Zealand Master of Audiology students. We have a strong career development path and offer a high level of support and supervision throughout the CCC process. We reward those students who are willing to take on a challenge and think outside the square.

Every year, Bay Audiology offers four scholarships to new Master of Audiology students. The scholarship includes:

  • Cost of annual tuition fees
  • Course-related costs for required texts
  • Part-time employment opportunities at a Bay Audiology clinic
  • Ongoing professional development opportunities
  • Involvement in annual Bay Audiology social functions
