Online Hearing Test

Take a quick, easy online hearing test

Getting your hearing checked regularly is an important step in maintaining your overall health and wellness. This is a good place to start on your hearing health and the test involves checking your hearing in 6 different social scenarios. Let's start Our online hearing test simply measures your ability to hear speech and sounds of different pitches and loudness in everyday environments. This is a free online test and aims to help you identify possible hearing loss and guides you through the next steps to find a solution. A visit to a hearing professional in your area to complete a diagnostic hearing test with the correct equipment and environment is still necessary to confirm the presence of hearing loss.

How the online hearing test works

If you suspect you may be suffering from hearing loss, our free online hearing test can help you decide if you need to take the next step and seek professional hearing care help.

Quick and easy setup

The Bay Audiology online hearing test will take less than five minutes, and gives you a score out of ten at the end to indicate the quality of your hearing.

All you need is a pair of earphones with the sound adjusted to the level you’re usually comfortable with. To help with this, use the Audio Listening tool you’re presented with before you start the test.

Tweak the sound level until you can hear the voice comfortably and clearly.

For more precise results, we recommend you don’t use your computer speakers.

Take the test in about 5 minutes

During the test, you will be presented with six sound clips depicting everyday scenarios, such as people talking in a busy bar or somebody asking for directions in the street.

At the end of the clip, you will be asked a question on what you’ve just heard and must pick from four options. Once you’ve answered the six questions, you will be given a score out of ten and a recommendation based on your test results.

If the hearing test detects you may be suffering from hearing loss, we recommend you book online for a free hearing check with one of our hearing specialists.

What happens after the online hearing test?

When taking an online hearing test, it’s important to remember its limitations. While today’s technology is advanced, online tests are only to be used as an indication.

While many people turn to online hearing tests or apps to check their hearing, it's important to note that these tests can't provide definitive results. This is because factors like precise sound calibration and listening environment can vary. Our test combines self-assessment questions with listening exercises in background noise to give you an idea of how well you hear in everyday situations, but it does not replace a clinical hearing assessment.

Anyone who suspects they may be suffering from hearing loss should seek an assessment from a qualified audiologist.

To get an accurate understanding of your hearing, it's best to visit a Bay Audiology specialist. Our trained professionals use advanced equipment in a controlled setting to assess your hearing with precision.

Booking is free, easy and can be completed by selecting your nearest clinic and appointment time by booking an appointment here.
